    Zheng Jian

Research Assistant Professor in University of Hong Kong.

Dr. Zheng Jian was graduated from the First Military Medical University and became a doctor in Department of General Surgery in 91th Military Hospital in 2003. 1 year later, He came back to Southern Medical University (the First Military Medical University) to pursue my master degree in Prof. Ning Fu’s lab (Dept. of Immunology) and my projects are cellular/molecular mechanisms of anaphylactic shock and optimization of ELISA kit for detecting thalassemia. In 2007, He moved to the University of Hong Kong to continue my study as a PhD candidate in Prof. Wenwei Tu’s lab. During my stay in Hong Kong, He focused on transplantation and antiviral immunology, especially immune response mediated by innate immune cells (gd-T cells and NK cells). After my graduation, He continued my investigation projects as Postdoc and then Research Assistant Professor in University of Hong Kong. In 2016, He accepted the offer from Prof. Stanley Perlman, a renowned scientist in coronavirus study, and started my 2nd postdoc training in University of Iowa. In the past 4 years, He extended his investigating scope to inflammatory molecules and their effects on virus infection and neurodegenerative diseases. His interests are to bridge the bench work to clinical application by developing ready-to-use strategy in appropriate animal or AI models.
